There are a variety of ways to do the tapping. This can be simply tapping on each of the following points while saying a part of the set up prase such as "this __(name)__ issue". It can be new words or phrases that change at each tapping point such as "this pain, I am so angry, this frustration, etc". It can even be continual tapping while talking about the issue or during the entire session. Often one specific point seem to have a stronger "release" than other points. Common ones are UE, CB, UA.
The process is as follows:
-
Tap with two fingers, for approximately 7 taps at each spot.
-
You may use one hand or if it is comfortable for spots that have two points, both hands.
-
Usually it is started at the top of head or eyebrow, but it can be at any point.
-
Points are normally tapped in the following order listed below.
-
Points can be missed, repeated, or go out of sequence
-
The left side or the right side can be tapped or both sides at the same time.
HEAD (H) – Tap on the top of the head at the centre, where a string would hold up a puppet. You can use the tips of the fingers (on both hands if preferred) and tap in an area to cover a wider spot.
EYEBROW (EB) – Tap with two fingers, with each finger tapping on the inside of the eyebrows above the nose, where the wrinkle of the brow would be.
SIDE OF EYE (SE) – Tap on the dent where the bones meet at the outer side of the eye, along the bone of the eye socket.
UNDER EYE (UE) – Tap on the bone, directly under the eye looking out straight
UNDER NOSE (UN) – Tap on the gums, between the nose and upper lip
CHIN (CH) - Tap on the gums, between the lower lip and the chin.
COLLAR BONE (CB) – Find the u-shaped intent at the base of the neck. Move down 1” and across 1” and tap here. Alternatively you can use the flat of your hand to tap across the area where the knot of a tie would be.
UNDER ARM (UA) –Tap under the arm, where the side of the bra strap would be and directly across from the nipple on the ribs.
LIVER POINT (LP)– This point is sometimes eliminated if tapping in public, but it is highly recommended as it taps and helps clear toxins from the liver meridian. It is located about 2” below the nipple on the ribs. It may be a tender spot as well.
